The only way to slow down the epidemic in the short-term is to adopt those measures immediately, Unfortunately, India cannot vaccinate or treat itself out of the current surge. Only about 1% of the population has been fully vaccinated and the healthcare system has collapsed. ......... Why did this have to happen a year after the pandemic began, when highly effective non-pharmaceutical mitigation measures were known, multiple effective vaccines were available, and the country was the largest producer of vaccines globally?"
