Republic Of Nepal Flag

In the first, the white is for the Himal region, the green for the Pahad, and the yellow for the Terai, and the blue is for the rivers. Please note that in my Proposed Republican Constitution 2006 Nepal has three states after the three river basins, also so named, Kosi, Gandaki, Karnali.

In the second and third models, the blue is for peace and red for prosperity.

I personally prefer the second model with the horizontal blue and red. The flag employs the two main colors used in the current flag, but now the overall look is of flattened hieararchies. I also like the simplicity. And I like the bright colors.

I got inspired by प्रवर जिसी's proposed national anthem for a republican Nepal. I think it is great. Let it be put to music. Let's start singing it right away. Is there a MP3 I can download somewhere?

Curfew Nothing To Do With Maoists

I have yet to come across a single news report foreign or domestic that says the king has successfully thwarted a violent urban uprising by the Maoists. Every source in media and government all over the world is saying the king imposed the curfew precisely to thwart the planned massive anti-king rally.

And the curfew impacted literally every citizen in the valley. So either they like the king for the discomfort or dislike him for it.

The curfew has sent our democracy message across the valley, across the country and across the world like no mass rally could have.

So thank you king.

Where Are The Second Generation Leaders?

Where Are The Second Generation Leaders? Now it is for them to lead this movement. But there can not be a repetition of the same old, same old. This is time for a major rethink as to our strategy and message.

There has to be a lot of underground work. And there has to be this one decisive movement. The seven party alliance has to come around to the two word goal: democratic republic.

Maybe this is high time to ditch the House revival idea itself. Because the 1990 constitution is dead. And if you revive that constitution, you create all sorts of problems. But this is for the seven party alliance to decide.

It is just that I think it is hard to ask people to come out for a make or break revolution with the idea of House revival.

The goal has to be an interim government after the country has already been turned into a republic.

The new reality also asks for a lot of clandestine work. This is not the time to stay in the open awaiting arrest. We have to outsmart the state machinery. We have to outorganize them.

We have to wage a major propaganda war.

We have to fan out all across the country. We have to really intensify our efforts in Kathmandu valley. We have to coordinate, cooperate. We have to be sophisticated about our campaign.

We have to think in terms of an endgame. I keep coming back to this idea: Pyramid Of 10 In Kathmandu.

We have to know beforehand that we have 500,000 people at the ready, and then we have to gather one public place, and then we have to stay there until the king abdicates his throne.

People in Kathmandu need to be capturing the movement with digital cameras, and on video. And uploading them online for the diaspora. Write to us frequently. Update us about the situation on the ground in near real time.

And the rest of us, especially in the diaspora, has to support that groundswell. Those of us in the diapora have to start work for the lobbying that will get a whole bunch of foreign governments to recognize the new revolutionary government once it takes shape.

We might also have to lobby for economic sanctions. It is high time India acted. Let the trade and transit treaty expire. The people in power in Nepal define Nepali nationalism exclusively in terms of anti-Indianism. India has to take offense. Now is the time.

The political parties and the civil society in India need to realize now is the hour of need. Now is the time for them to proactively aid the democracy movement in Nepal. They may not idly sit by.
