Hridayesh Tripathy Appeals To The Diaspora (An ANTA Event)

$50 Billion Spent On Global Vaccinations Will Save Trillions

The Online Event: The Association of Nepali Teraian in America (ANTA) is hosting a webinar tomorrow (Sunday, May 23rd) at 11:00 AM EST (8:45 PM Nepal Time) titled "Engaging the Diaspora in the Covid-19 Pandemic".

Hon'ble Minister Mr Hridayesh Tripathi, Minister of Health & Population and Hon'ble Mr Brijesh K Gupta, Former Minister & Parliamentarian from Nepal have agreed to grace the event to provide their perspectives on the role of the Diaspora in America and the global context, as well as navigate the myriad ways the community fits into the greater COVID-19 crisis sweeping Nepal at this time.

Dr Dasharath Lohar, a towering figure & a community leader from Kapilvastu who is based in the USA will also join us as a panelist. We would like to hear from these dignitaries and established professional originally belonging to the Western Nepal in the context of the broader Diaspora and Awadhi diaspora in particular vis-a-vis ongoing pandemic.

His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Yuba Raj Khatiwada has kindly agreed to be our keynote speaker for the event.

This event will be moderated by Dr Chakradhar Mishra (Adviser) and Mr Shiv Mishra (Life Member) and the technical oversight will be provided by Mrs. Ruby Dev (CTO).

I am so glad ANTA is doing this. Nepal has not faced a greater crisis in the lifetime of anybody alive today. The most important thing we all can do is reach out to everyone we know and deliver the message on masking, social distancing, and handwashing again and again like relentless Coca-Cola ads. Find ways to make it interesting.

We must also do whatever fundraising we can for emergency medical attention. And we must all lobby hard in support of the IMF proposal to come up with $50 billion to end the global pandemic. My heart goes out to Hridayesh Tripathi, a personal friend of mine, and also a colleague in the early 90s for a short year or so. He is having to learn all the gripping details of this unfolding tragedy. He is having to manage the emotions of too many nervous people. He is at the very forefront of it. And I say, Salute. The least we can do is express solidarity. No soldier in Nepali history has had to face a more gargantuan task. Right now it is outright an impossible task. And he is having to face endless questions on when the vaccine will arrive. As if they are in his backroom closet.

Let's do all we can. And some more.
