More babies or more immigrants? ....... the Great Leap Forward of 1958 to 1962 – during which a severe famine resulting from bad economic policies contributed to 30 million to 40 million more deaths than would have been expected. ............ In 2015, the government abandoned the one-child policy, permitting all couples in China to have two children. In 2021, the two-child policy was abandoned in favor of a three-child policy. ........ Chinese couples are having fewer children due to the higher living costs and educational expenses involved in having more than one child. ........ China right now has few residents who were born in a foreign country – there are now only around 1 million foreign-born residents in China, or less than 0.1% of the population. ......... Compare its 0.1% of immigrants with near 14% in the U.S. and 18% in Germany. Even Japan and South Korea – which historically have not been high-immigration countries – have higher percentages of foreign-born population, 2% in Japan and 3% in South Korea. ......... China also faces the problem of growing numbers of its population moving to other countries, including the U.S. In 2017, for example, an estimated 10 million people moved from China to live and work in other countries. ......... Currently, foreign-born people cannot attain Chinese citizenship unless they are children of Chinese nationals. Also, foreigners are only allowed to purchase one piece of property in China, and it must be their residence. .......... Chinese “officials boast of a single Chinese bloodline dating back thousands of years.” And that taps into a seemingly deep-rooted belief in racial purity held by many leaders in the Chinese Communist Party. In 2017, Chinese President Xi Jinping told Donald Trump, then America’s president: “We people are the original people, black hair, yellow skin, inherited onwards. We call ourselves the descendants of the dragon.” .......... Immigrants are typically of prime working age and very productive; they also tend to have more babies than native-born residents. ........ For immigration to have any reasonable impacts in China, the numbers of people coming into China will need to increase tremendously in the next decade or so – to around 50 million, perhaps higher. Otherwise, in the coming decades, China’s demographic destiny will be one of population losses every year, with more deaths than births, and the country will soon have one of the oldest populations in the world.

Ground fires, on the other hand, do not flame but burn more slowly and have the tendency to spread deep into the ground and spread laterally. ......... These smoldering fires also produce more smoke because of their lower temperature of combustion. Ultra-fine particles in smoke are particularly harmful to the respiratory and cardiovascular systems and can be carried far and wide by winds.

‘बजेट नसच्याए सरकारलाई समर्थन फिर्ता लिन्छौं’ ‘मधेशमा अझै औपनिवेशिक शासन छ भन्ने बजेट विनियोजनबाटै देखिन्छ’ ..... ‘बजेटमाथि बिहान ११ देखि ६ बजेसम्म झन्डै १ महिना छलफल हुन्छ तर कमा र फुलस्टप परिवर्तन हुँदैन, संसद् कसरी सार्वभौम सत्ता सम्पन्न भयो ?’ ‘नेपाली जनता कसैसँग आशा देख्यो भने तुरुन्तै सराहना गर्ने र एउटा त्रुटि भयो भने तुरुन्तै नकार्ने स्वभावका छन्’ ...... मुख्यमन्त्रीलाई प्रमुख जिल्ला अधिकारीले टेर्दैन । उसलाई आफ्नो प्रहरी बनाउन दिँदैनन् । ........ बिहार, यूपीमा प्रदेश सरकार पावरफुल छ, आफ्नै प्रहरी हुन्छ । सबै कुरा आफैंले गरिराखेको हुन्छ । त्यस्तो खालको संघीयताको उदाहरण छिमेकमा हुँदा पनि हामीले भोग्न पाएका छैनौं । ....... नेपालमा सबैभन्दा ठूलो समस्या भनेको भ्रष्टाचार हो । हामीले यो एजेन्डालाई पनि लिएका छौं । मुख्य रूपमा सेवाप्रवाहलाई प्राथमिकता दिएका छौं । शिक्षा हुनुपर्‍यो, स्वास्थ्य सेवा हुनुपर्‍यो, रोजगारी हुनुपर्‍यो, युवा विदेशिनुभएन भन्ने मुद्दा मधेशका लागि मात्रै बोलेका होइनौं, सबैका लागि बोलेका हौं । किसानको समस्या समाधान हुनुपर्‍यो, हिमाल पहाड तराई सबैका समस्या समाधान हुनुपर्‍यो । यी मुद्दाको स्वामित्व लिएपछि र अहिलेको आवश्यकता टड्कारो रूपमा यही भएपछि आकर्षण हामीप्रति देखिएको छ । ......... राजनीतिक आन्दोलन जति हुनुपर्ने थियो त्यो भयो, व्यवस्थाहरू आए, संघीयता, गणतन्त्र आए । अब आर्थिक क्रान्ति विशाल रूपमा जानुपर्‍यो । जनताको अपेक्षा पनि त्यही छ । हाम्रो पनि एजेन्डा त्यही भएकाले आकर्षण देखिएको हो । उदाउँदै गरेका केही अरू पार्टी छन्, त्यहीं संयोग भएको हो । अहिलेको प्रणाली भ्रष्ट भयो, डेलिभर गर्न सकेन, हामी गर्छौं भनेर उहाँहरूसँग पनि आकर्षण भएको हो । ........ हामीले समावेशिताको कुरा गर्‍यौं तर मधेश प्रदेशमा दलितलाई मन्त्री बनाउन सकिएन । महिलालाई मन्त्री बनाउन सकिएन । आफैं समावेशिताको नारा दिने तर आफ्नै धरातल एकदम कमजोर भयो । ठेट भाषामा जंगलराज भन्छौं, यसलाई कुशासन भन्दा पनि भयो, सुशासनको अभाव मात्रै भन्दा पनि भयो । आफ्नो प्रतिनिधित्वमाथि पनि भरोसा तोड्ने काम भयो । त्यही कारण पनि जनमत पार्टीको उदय भयो । सामाजिक न्यायको कुरा गर्छौं तर सामाजिक अन्याय लादियो । त्यो महसुस गर्छौं । त्यो अर्थमा पक्कै पनि मधेशकै पात्र र नेतृत्व दोषी छन् । जितेका पार्टीहरूको हरेक कार्यालय, हरेक स्तरसम्मै ठूलो दमन छ । जुन पार्टीहरू सत्तामा छन्, तिनीहरूको ठूलो दमन र सास्ती त्यहाँका जनताले भोग्नुपरेको छ । न्याय व्यवस्थाले सामाजिक न्यायलाई धरापमा पारेर अन्याय नै सिर्जना गरेको देखिन्छ । ......... अंकगणित नभएकाले हामीसँग संख्या कम छ । संख्या कम भएपछि स्वाभाविक रूपमा मधेश प्रदेशमै वा लुम्बिनी प्रदेशमा सरकार बनाउँदा अर्कोसँग मिल्ने बाध्यता हुन्छ । त्यो सरकार बनाउने बाध्यता भए पनि काम गर्दा प्रतिबिम्बित नहोस् भन्ने चाहन्छौं । त्यो जनमत पार्टीले गरेको काम हो भनेर स्वच्छ रूपले देखियोस् भन्ने चाहन्छौं । ........ मधेश प्रदेशमा कृषि मन्त्रालय र शिक्षा मन्त्रालय सम्हालेका थियौं । कृषि मन्त्रालयमा हामीले नयाँ भिजनअनुसार गर्दै गयौं, मुख्यमन्त्रीले रुचाइदिनुभएन । हामीलाई बिनाविभागीय बनाएर एक महिनादेखि राखिएको छ । हामीलाई किनारा लगाइयो । अरूभन्दा फरक तरिकाले सुशासन र भ्रष्टाचाररहित ढंगले काम गर्न खोज्दा ठाउँठाउँमा समस्या झेल्नुपर्‍यो । ........ जतिसुकै आदर्शका कुरा गरे पनि अन्ततः अंकगणितले अर्थ राख्छ । एउटा सिट पनि नजितेको भए हामी सिनमै हुने थिएनौं । मान्छेलाई बाहिरबाट भित्र्याएर भए पनि केही सिट जित्यौं, मधेश प्रदेश सरकारमा पनि सहभागी हुन पायो, त्यसपछि बल्ल हामी आफ्नो भिजन लगाउने चरणमा छौं । कालान्तरमा आफैंले नेतृत्व विकास गर्न लागेका छौं । त्यसका लागि समय लाग्छ । त्यो भएपछि हामीले टेकओभर गर्ने हो । .......... जितेर आएपछि पनि पटकपटक भेटें । अग्रजका हिसाबले मार्गदर्शन गर्नुस्, मधेशको एजेन्डामा हामी छौं, लाग्छौं, संसद्मा तपाईंले भनेअनुसार चल्छौं भनेको हो । ......... हामी छुट्टै पार्टी भइसकेपछि बाराको उपनिर्वाचनमा आफ्नो उम्मेदवार उठाउनैपर्‍यो । त्यो हाम्रो राजनीतिक धर्म हो, प्रणालीको आवश्यकता हो । त्यसलाई अरूले अर्थ्याइदिने भएकाले अन्यथा भएको हो । मेरोतर्फबाट सम्बन्ध सौहार्दपूर्ण छ तर संवाद अलिअलि कम भएको छ । ......... मन्त्री र सचिवज्यूले सिंहदरबारको एसी कोठामा बसेर बजेट बनाउनुहुन्छ .......... कर्मकाण्डी भयो, संसद् निरीह देखियो । सांसद र संसद् केही गर्न नसक्ने निरीह देखिएकाले समग्र संसदीय व्यवस्थामाथि नै प्रहार भएको हो भन्ने मलाई लाग्छ । ......... कांग्रेस सभापतिको जिल्लामा बजेट हेर्नुस् । अर्को प्रधानमन्त्रीज्यूको जिल्लाको बजेट हेर्नुस् । अर्थमन्त्री र अर्को सम्बन्धित मन्त्रीको जिल्लाको बजेट हेर्नुस् । जुनसुकै मन्त्रालयको फाइल पढ्दा हुन्छ । चार यार मिलेरै वास्तवमा बजेट लुटेका हुन् । ........ तपाईंले पनि राजनीतिमा एउटा विरोधाभास देखाइरहनुभएको छ । एकातिर सरकारले लुट्ने क्रम जारी राखेको छ, वैशाख १२ मा मतपेटिका लुट्यो अहिले बजेट लुट्यो भन्ने, अर्कातिर त्यहीं सरकारलाई समर्थन कायम राख्ने, तर सरकारमा सहभागी नहुने । यो त द्वैध चरित्र भएन र ? तपाईंहरूको यो कस्तो राजनीतिक नीति हो ? ......... म आफ्नो निर्वाचन क्षेत्रमा जाँदा के नीति बनाएर आउनुभयो भनेर सोध्दैनन् । कुन पुल लिएर आउनुभयो, कहाँको सडक बनाउनुहुन्छ, कुन स्कुल बनाउनुहुन्छ भनेर सोध्छन् । त्यै भएर जनताको मागलाई सम्बोधन गर्ने कुनै न कुनै संयन्त्र हामीसँग हुनुपर्छ । त्यो यो कोष हो । ........ आफ्नो निर्वाचन क्षेत्रको मागअनुसार बढीमा पाँच योजना सांसदले राखिदिने हो । त्यो योजना सम्बन्धित मन्त्रालयले कार्यान्वयन गर्ने हो । सांसदले पैसा बाँड्ने होइन । प्रदेशमा यो कार्यक्रम वितरणमुखी छ, तर संघको त्यस्तो हुँदैन । .
