What's Wrong With The ANA Convention
A prominent Janajati person commented to me on Saturday that he has for the large part avoided the ANA conventions. It tends to be exclusive, just like Nepal. The social justice agenda is very much pertinent also in the mini Nepal of America. The Bahuns just get fatter in America, their hearts don't change.
But boycotting is not enough. Work has to be done to form a strong DaMaJaMa coalition. That is the more effective way.
Bahunbad is alive and well also in America.
Janajati Sammelan
I attended the day long event on Saturday. And some promiment speakers used the word "Madhise" and "madisey" to mean Madhesi. Those people are banging their heads against the concrete wall.
It is high time the Janajati either launched a political party, or joined forces with the Sadbhavana.
The Sadbhavana could be a great vehicle for the Madhesi-Janajati coalition.
Dr. Om Gurung told me a Janajati-Dalit-Madhesi coalition has been formed in Morang. I urged him to form the same in all the other districts.

Surya Bahadur Thapa
I got to spend time with him on Sunday. Listening to him comment on Nepali politics is like watching soccer to me. He knows the craft, the contours. He is quite a player.

Girija: Same Old, Same Old
The guy is showing his colors, alright. He talks of a ceremonial monarchy, and that means he is against a republic. And he is talking of decentralization: that means he is against federalism. In short, the guy is against a federal republic.
The social justice forces will just have to see him for what he is. He is part of the old guard Bahun brigade. There is an urgent need to organize against him.
Just like only a revolution pushed the king out, only major political organizing at the grassroots level will show the Koirala Congress its true size.
ANTA
The Association of the Nepali Terain in America (ANTA) should be taking the lead on the Madhesi issue now that the constituent assembly has been secured. But its officers are too busy doing the social thing. As soon as they start asking the hard questions, the nobody Pahadis of the American diaspora are going to socially part ways with them. That is how they seem to feel.
Youth Council's Limitations
The Youth Council in the city might have held a few rallies, a few programs, written a few letters to a few office holders, but it is no mass based organization. It has about 10 core members, and maybe 50-100 supporters. And it also has a few other limitations. It is affiliated with one particular political party, the Koirala Congress. Some of its patrons are elitist. The organization is territorial. It is not for a republic, because the Koirala Congress is not for a republic. It lags behind on the social justice agenda.

President, Hamro Nepal
Some Pahadis are really struggling with the fact that a Madhesi leads the organization. At the level of earning voting rights for the 100,000 Nepalis in America, the Pahadis in America have the mentality of the Madhesis in Nepal.

Anand Bist called me to clarify that the Youth Council is also firmly behind the republican agenda.
I am sorry for the factual misinformation presented here. I did not know.
